Website Charité Berlin - Institute for Microbiology, Infectious Diseases and Immunology

The Charité in Berlin is the largest university hospital in Europe, unifying the medical faculties of the Free University of Berlin and Humboldt University. It has four major campuses where academic teaching, research and patient care are closely interwoven and it is one of Germany’s most research-intensive medical institutions. The Institute of Microbiology, Infectious Diseases and Immunology at Campus Benjamin Franklin (Director: Andreas Diefenbach) invites applications for a full-time (38,5 hrs./week) position as

Head of the Flow Cytometry Unit (m/f)

The Institute of Microbiology, Infectious Diseases and Immunology aims to gain a molecular understanding of how the innate immune system, in particular the recently discovered groups of innate lymphoid cells (ILC), promote tissue homeostasis and adaptation of the host to noxious compounds and tissue damage at barrier surfaces (e.g. skin, lung, gut). To this end, our laboratory is applying cutting edge technology in the area of both immunology and genomics including multi-dimensional flow cytometry and cell sorting as well as RNA-, ChIP-, ATAC- and single cell RNA-sequencing. To provide investigators advanced instrumentation and high-level technical and scientific expertise in flow cytometry and cell sorting, we aim to establish, maintain and operate a state-of-the-art Flow Cytometry Unit. The Flow Cytometry Unit will host cutting edge equipment, including both a high-parameter analyser (BD LSR Fortessa™ X-20) and sorter (BD FACS Aria™ Fusion) and is to be established as independent Charité Core Facility.
